Stakeholders in North American higher education collaboration
are invited to submit presentation proposals for CONAHEC’s
Ninth North American Higher Education Conference.
CONAHEC’s conference, “Discovering North American
Potential: Higher Education Charts a New Course” will
take place from March 17-20, 2004 in Guadalajara, Jalisco,
CONAHEC is now accepting presentation proposals for the conference.
Suggested topics include:
- Quality assurance and mutual recognition of courses and
- Certification of skills for the professions and technical
- Mechanisms to ease immigration difficulties for students
within North America
- Promoting and strengthening North American studies across
- Student and faculty mobility
- Professional mobility and market needs
- Higher education and economic development
- Giving an international experience to those who can’t
leave their home country.
CONAHEC will give preference to topics that address its “Priorities
for North American Higher Education Collaboration Recommendations”
produced at CONAHEC’s 2002 Calgary conference.
Concurrent sessions will feature 20-minute presentations.
Both case studies and original research will be considered.
Proposals that explore these topics in the North American
context will be of most use to conference attendees. Diverse
perspectives from all sectors, not just higher education,
are welcome. We also want to hear from business, government,
nonprofit, primary and secondary education. In addition, we
invite the sharing of innovative frameworks not traditionally
addressed by the higher education administrative and international
Proposals must include:
- A brief abstract of 100-200 words summarizing how you
plan to address the topic.
- Your C.V. that illustrates your expertise in the area
you are proposing to address. Please make sure to include
your complete contact information as part of our C.V.
For consideration, submit your proposal via email file attachment
to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, November 28, 2003.
LANGUAGES: Presentations can be made in English, Spanish
or French. However, due to the high cost involved, only a
small number of simultaneous sessions will benefit from simultaneous
interpretation services, and we cannot guarantee prior to
the conference, that any one particular session will the interpreted.
NOTIFICATION: Presenters will be notified by December 19,
2003 regarding the acceptance of their proposal.
COMPENSATION: Regretfully, we cannot offer presenters any
compensation. Travel, lodging and conference registration
fees will be the presenter's responsibility.
PAPER POSTING DEADLINES: If your proposal is accepted and
you would like to post a paper on the conference Web site
in advance of the event, it must be submitted to CONAHEC by
Monday, February 4, 2004. Due to the high costs, CONAHEC will
not be able to copy papers at the event for distribution.
Papers will be posted in their original language. Any translations
