Nutrition Program: The Apple of Health, for Pre-School and
Elementary School Children, and the Mothers of the
Initial Education Program for Centers of Education for Indians in Tijuana

This nutrition program through the seed grant addressed the food consumption and nutritional status of infants, pre-school, elementary school children and reproductive age women from Mexican indigenous population living in Tijuana through a health education program promoting diet and exercise. The project involved students in nutrition, medicine, psychology, international education from Universidad Autónoma de Baja California and San Diego State University and provided health exams, nutrition assessments, and developed materials – posters and pamphlets that were distributed in the schools.
