Border Microenterprise Development and Mentoring Workshops

INSTITUTIONS: Portable Practical Education Preparation (PPEP) and Fundación Infantil

This binational collaborative project initiated micro enterprise development programs for the communities of San Luis Rio Colorado, Nogales and Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, linking them to U.S. based micro enterprise programs across the border in San Luis, Nogales, and Douglas, Arizona. A series of three technical and mentoring workshops were conducted on the Mexican side of the border providing technology on how to establish and support micro enterprise development projects. PPEP also provided ongoing mentoring, training and technical assistance activities across the border, opened avenues of credit access for border region micro business development, and provided opportunities to selected low-income families to sell their products using the internet.
