Immigrant and Refugee Rights Program
Is a binational proactive community outreach campaign
to inform and educate immigrant communities in Southern
Arizona and actual or potential immigrants or border-crossers
in Sonora, Mexico about their rights and obligations
under U.S. Immigration law. Students from the University
of Arizona, Universidad del Noroeste and Fundación
Mexico’s student committee will organize bi-weekly
pláticas and theatre presentations in the people’s
own language to immigrant communities at community institutions
on the most salient issues in immigration law that affect
them and provide them with legal and social resources
for referral and follow-up assistance.
