The Santa Cruz River is the principal water source for
both towns of Nogales (Nogales, Arizona and Nogales,
Sonora). The riverside ecosystems of the Santa Cruz
have been disturbed by many causes over the past few
years. For this reason, it is urgent that we generate
documention about the existing flora and begin initiating
projects to restore the ecosystem to its original state.
It’s equality important to determine the quality
of the microbiology in the river and the quantity of
water it contains by involving the town of Miguel Hidalgo
and researchers of the Universidad de Sonora (UNISON)
y el Sonoran Institute (SI).
