TJ Data- Driven Business Readiness Project

AMOUNT: $15,000 US

PROJECT LEADERS: Rachna Kumar, Louise Kelly, and Edna Patricia Hernandez

INSTITUTIONS: Alliant International University and the Mexican Chamber for the Electronics Industry, Northwest Chapter

Project partners trained small businesses in Tijuana to use database-driven marketing techniques and database-driven strategic planning to help them compete and grow with long-term, deliberate business strategies. This project complements the achievements and objectives of a previous CONAHEC supported project in which the partners educated 30 vocational students in database development skills. Students were matched with 15 small businesses in Tijuana and given the task of understanding his/her assigned business and building working databases for that business. For this project, project partners selected ten students from the pool of 30 students who were involved in the first project and provided them with two further courses, free of charge. The first course was an online course to teach them data-driven marketing techniques and data-driven strategic planning techniques. The second course taught the same cohort how to implement these techniques in a business setting. The ten businesses benefited by this project were selected from among the pool of businesses involved in the first project.
