Latinoamérica es la región más desigual del mundo, en el aspecto educativo las brechas son enormes, señalaron especialistas durante la mesa de debate “Políticas educativas en Iberoamérica”, en el Foro “La Educación en la era digital”.

Al mismo tiempo los participantes señalaron que la educación y la tecnología, deben ser las principales herramientas para acabar con las desigualdades.

Affordability is the main barrier preventing international students admitted to US institutions from enrolling, according to a new report by Eduventures. This can lead to wasted resources in institutions’ marketing efforts and highlights a lack of transparency about financial support for new students, the report says.

Today the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) launched “Re-Imagining the First Year of College” (RFY), a new project aimed at ensuring success for all students, particularly those who have historically been underserved by higher education: low income, first generation, and students of color.

Study abroad programmes will be exempt from a new 25% tax on overseas payments that was announced last week, the Department of Federal Revenue has announced, prompting a sigh of relief among stakeholders that send and receive Brazilian students abroad.

Latin America is facing a significant skills gap. A reported 37 percent of companies in the region find it difficult to fill job vacancies, particularly for technical positions. One of the major efforts to overcome this skills gap is to provide funding for students in higher education to study abroad through programs such as Brazil’s Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP) and Mexico’s FOBESII (Bilateral Forum on Higher Education, Innovation and Research) partnership.

Qatar University has topped a list of the world’s most international institutions, based on data from the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-2016.

The Middle Eastern institution, which was ranked in the 601-800 band in the overall rankings, knocked Switzerland’s École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) off pole position to fourth place for the first time in six years.

The United Kingdom is the global leader in high-quality undergraduate education for international students, with international undergraduate students rating the UK number one for student satisfaction, ahead of the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany and New Zealand, the research found. The UK also "excels in teaching and learning”, according to research released by the UK Higher Education International Unit at Universities UK.
