This publication examines the responses given by 188 comprehensive universities to a 2001 institutional survey conducted by ACE and expands on the findings presented in the 2003 ACE report titled Mapping Internationalization on U.S. Campuses. It reports a medium to medium-high level of overall internationalization for comprehensive universities, with 55 percent scoring "medium" or three on a five-point scale and 26 percent scoring "medium-high" or four. It also provides scores for each dimension of the internationalization index, compares the top two quartiles of comprehensive universities ("highly active") with the bottom three, and outlines activities that are more exclusive to highly active universities.
