The 2019 Conference Themes are:

Leveraging Consortia

  • Suggested topics include building your own state or regional consortium, successful study abroad consortiums models, working with your local and state governments within a consortium and other best practices.

Preparing Students for Employability

  • Suggested topics include international internships, study abroad links to employability, the value of articulation agreements and the role of community colleges in international and local economic development and workforce readiness, certification programs.

Study Abroad and Faculty Mobility

  • Suggested topics include risk management, marketing study abroad, LGBT and minorities abroad, disabilities and access, service learning and civic engagement.

International Student Recruitment

  • Suggested topics include building a recruitment strategy, risk management, marketing your institution, working with recruiters and agents, and providing resources and support for international students.

Campus Internationalization 

  • Including curriculum development, faculty engagement, and community engagement.  Suggested topics include defining learning outcomes for international education, active learning models in International Affairs, student activities promoting internationalization, and the role of the campus in fostering a globally-minded community.

International Partnerships and Opportunities 

  • Including government, nonprofit, and private sector educational partnerships. Suggested topics include fostering and building international partnerships, the role of community colleges in international and local economic development and workforce readiness, certification programs and global business.

Tools and Skills for Faculty and Administrators

  • Suggested topics include advocating for internationalization, grant writing, cultural competency, and leadership at an internationalized campus.

Focus: Asia-Pacific

 

These sessions specifically address study abroad, faculty mobility, international student recruitment, and international partnerships and opportunities as they relate to a specific country in the Asia-Pacific region.
