Javier Gaitán Moran, UABC Sur CONAHEC conference proceedings Baja California Sur is among the most advanced Mexican states in touristic development and predicting the broad impacts tourism can have on natural resources and local culture. To protect these resources, it is critical that we train personnel who will manage and implement programs and education efforts in conservation and eco-tourism. Academics from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur, California State University-Northridge, and the National Outdoor Leadership School have developed a binational program of research and professional development to train experts in these areas. This presentation will review the program's latest developments.

Join leaders and practitioners of higher education, business, government and students in Calgary, Canada for the VIII North American Higher Education Conference. Conference participants will work together to shape the collaborative agenda in North American higher education. We will review the outcomes of past efforts since "Wingspread", the first trinational education gathering in 1992. We will then develop strategies to meet the challenges we must overcome in the next decade.
