More than 20 students from the University of Guadalajara are spending a week in Tucson to learn about the culture of the United States, workforce development and how the country does business.

The group, in town until Sunday, is a mix of undergraduate and postgraduate students from different disciplines, including business administration, marketing and international relations.

More than 875 Native American youths from across the nation are gathering Thursday in Washington, D.C., for a first-of-its-kind summit called by the White House. The teens, who represent 230 tribes, will meet with first lady Michelle Obama and cabinet members to discuss a range of topics, including economic opportunity, education and cultural issues. It’s part of Generation Indigenous, or Gen-I, a White House initiative that kicked off earlier this year with a brainstorming session in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

According to WES’ recent survey of U.S.-bound international millennial students, 44% of students from Southeast Asia considered pursuing a foreign degree in a country other than the U.S., compared to 33% of overall respondents. International enrollment data from the Institute of International Education also shows that, although the number of undergraduate students from the region increased 22% between 2009/10 and 2013/14, the number of graduate students dropped 13% over the same time period. Last year, the total number of Southeast Asian students studying in the U.S.

Schools were evaluated on response time to initial and follow-up e-mails, online presence, program information availability, and more.

The Council of Graduate Schools recently announced that for the past decade, the number of international students applying to U.S. graduate programs has risen every year. This past 2014-2015 academic year saw applications increase 2 percent, but the rate of growth is lower than in years past.

The Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) is pleased to announce that it will develop an education program addressing the advising needs of International Student Advisers (ISAs) vis-à-vis immigration policy and practice. The program will prepare ISAs working at educational institutions across Canada for the entry-to-practice exam to become Regulated International Student Immigration Advisers (RISIAs).
