The deadline for the 2016 Mapping Internationalization on U.S. Campuses survey has been extended until May 3, and we need your help to reach our goal. As I noted below, we initially sent the survey by email to provosts at institutions around the country in February. Earlier this month, we reached out to international education leaders at institutions from which we had not yet received responses. And last week, we mailed hard copies of the survey in order to provide additional flexibility for respondents.

CBIE is pleased to announce the accreditation of its ISIEP curriculum by the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC).

The ISIEP will prepare International Student Advisers (ISAs), and other professionals working in the education sector in Canada whose responsibilities include offering immigration advice to students, for the entry-to-practice exam to become Regulated International Student Immigration Advisers (RISIAs).

Twenty-one people have been arrested after US authorities set up a fake university to expose immigration fraud.
Officials said the accused knew that the University of Northern New Jersey did not exist, but they were unaware it was a ruse run by immigration agents.
The defendants acted as brokers for more than 1,000 foreigners who sought to maintain student and work visas, prosecutors said.
Most foreign nationals involved in the scheme came from China and India.

El titular de la Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP), Aurelio Nuño, reconoció que es necesario plantear un marco legal idóneo en materia de educación superior para que ésta sea “un puente en la transformación de la educación en México”.
Durante la inauguración del foro “La Legislación Mexicana de Educación Superior”, el funcionario señaló que aún existen diversos retos importantes en la materia.
El primero de ellos, dijo, es ampliar la cobertura de la educación superior en el país, pasando del 35% que tenemos actualmente, al 50%.

La Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) abrió la convocatoria “Jóvenes en Acción 2016”, la cual pretende promover el liderazgo juvenil en las distintas comunidades con rezago y vulnerabilidad en el país.

La convocatoria va dirigida a jóvenes que estén inscritos en el primer o segundo año de Educación Media Superior, tanto de instituciones públicas como privadas, y que estén interesados en la prevención de la violencia y desintegración social.
