THE DEADLINE FOR PROPOSAL SUBMISSION HAS PASSED.
THANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR INTEREST AND WE HOPE YOU WILL JOIN US IN HOUSTON.
Stakeholders interested in international higher education collaboration are invited to submit presentation proposals for
CONAHEC's Thirteenth North American Higher Education Conference. CONAHEC's
conference "Innovation in International Higher Education Collaboration: Creating Opportunities in Challenging Times" will take place from April 21-23,
2010 at our host institution, Rice University, in Houston, Texas, USA.
While the climate surrounding resources for higher education and, more specifically, international engagement, is in many ways uncertain, the need for international education and collaboration has never been more pressing. It is essential that innovative best practices be developed, identified, reinforced and replicated, especially those which can be effective at various scales and which require realistic levels of resources and support. This event will provide a forum for discussion on what innovations are working, being developed or could be developed to facilitate international education and regional cooperation both within North America and between this region and the rest of the world.
Suggested topics:
Track I - Internationalization Issues
- Internationalizing or "glocalizing" institutions and
their curricula while strengthening local connections and relevance
of institutions

development; and fostering international opportunities for those
unable to leave their home country
- Best practices in efforts to internationalize institutions and
curricula
- Fostering the participation of institutions, governments and the
business sector in international education and collaboration
Track II - Mobility in Uncertain Times

higher education in a global context

Track IV - Identity, Culture
and Belonging

society

Concurrent sessions will feature 20-minute presentations.
Case studies and original research will be considered. Diverse perspectives
from all sectors are welcome, not just higher education. We encourage
contributions from business, government, non-profit, primary and secondary
education. In addition, we invite the sharing of innovative frameworks
not traditionally addressed by higher education administrative and international
education communities.
LANGUAGES: Presentations may be made in
English, Spanish or French. However, due to the high cost involved, only
a small number of presentations will benefit from simultaneous interpretation
services. We cannot guarantee prior to the conference that any one particular
session will be interpreted.
NOTIFICATION: Those who submit a proposal
before the deadline will be notified by Friday, January 29, 2010,
regarding the decision about its acceptance.
COMPENSATION: Regretfully, presenters will
not receive any compensation. Travel, lodging and conference registration
fees will be the presenter's responsibility.
